Roma fans honour Mourinho with bronze She-Wolf, declare him a Son of Rome

AS Roma supporters have paid an emotional tribute to José Mourinho by presenting the former manager with a bronze Capitoline Wolf, declaring him a son of the Italian capital. According to RomaPress, the club’s Curva Sud supporters presented Mourinho with the 1925 bronze sculpture by J. Cuevas before Roma’s Champions League meeting with Real Madrid.

The gift was accompanied by a letter expressing gratitude for the Portuguese coach’s contribution to the club and its supporters. “Mister, they didn’t give us time to thank you and say goodbye, so we’re doing it today. Thank you for giving us back our dignity, pride, and the ability to dream. This is worth more than any victory.”

The letter also recalled the words of a deceased supporter: “We didn’t win much, but winning once was enough to say we had won more than anyone else.”It concluded: “This Capitoline Wolf means that Rome recognizes you as its son. Thank you forever, Mister. The Curva Sud.”

Mourinho also acknowledged the supporters’ affection after the match, writing: “When the best moments of a long career are neither goals nor victories, but rather emotions for which I can only humbly express my gratitude. Thank you Roma, thank you Romanisti. Emotions and eternal gratitude to you. Jose,”
