Saint-Maximin reveals racist abuse aimed at his children forced Club América exit
France winger Allan Saint-Maximin has revealed he left Club América after his children faced racist abuse while attending school in Mexico, telling BBC Sport in a report by Punch NG that discrimination “has no place in our society” regardless of skin colour. The 29-year-old, now with Charlotte FC, said the incident left him “a bit sad” for his son but insisted his departure was not a criticism of the Mexican club, which publicly backed his family.
Saint-Maximin said protecting his children mattered more than his career, adding he would “never accept stuff like this.” After leaving Mexico, he joined Lens on a short-term deal, winning the French Cup, before choosing Charlotte FC in a decision made “with his family in mind.”
