SEC orders capital market operators to freeze assets of terror financiers, three BDC firms
Nigeria’s Securities and Exchange Commission has directed capital market operators to immediately freeze assets belonging to six individuals and three Bureau de Change firms designated as alleged terrorist financiers, according to The Sun Nigeria.
The Nigeria Sanctions Committee listed the suspects under the Terrorism Prevention and Prohibition Act, citing alleged links to ISWAP financing networks. Operators must report frozen assets and suspicious transactions to relevant authorities. The move follows similar actions by the U.S. and Central Bank of Nigeria, with SEC warning non-compliance risks fines, suspension, or revocation of registration.
