Shake Shack worker called in sick, returned to hold coworkers at gunpoint, stole $2,800—then showed up for work
A Phoenix fast-food worker pulled off one of the most brazen inside jobs in recent memory — then reported back for his next shift. Keondre Simmons, 33, was arrested in the parking lot of the same Shake Shack location where police say he robbed two coworkers at gunpoint days earlier, according to the New York Post.
Simmons called out sick from his job at the Shake Shack at Kierland Commons, then returned hours later, forced an employee into a walk-in cooler at gunpoint, ordered a manager to open the safe, and made off with about $2,800 before locking both workers inside and destroying their phones.
The two employees told police the suspect’s build, hairline, voice and mannerisms matched Simmons, who also knew the store’s layout, equipment locations and how to operate the cooler’s latch from outside. He faces charges of armed robbery, aggravated assault and kidnapping and is being held on a $100,000 bond.
