6 northern governors, 500 Islamic clerics reveal preferred presidential candidate

Over 500 Islamic scholars and clerics have endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term following a closed-door meeting with six northern APC governors in Jigawa State, according to Legit.ng.

Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau and presidential aide Ibrahim Masari also attended the session. The identities of the six governors were not disclosed.

The endorsement marks one of the largest single blocs of Islamic community support since Tinubu took office in May 2023, signalling an early push by his camp to consolidate northern political and religious backing ahead of the 2027 general elections.
