Surrogate faces $100,000 suit after declining parents’ abortion demand
A US surrogate mother, McKenna West, is facing a $100,000 lawsuit from the biological parents of the baby she carried after she refused to terminate the pregnancy following a heart defect diagnosis, Punch reported.
Nasheen Gilkar and Omar Ahmed, who paid West $60,000 under a surrogacy agreement with an abortion clause, filed the countersuit weeks before she gave birth in Texas on August 12. The baby was diagnosed with hypoplastic left heart syndrome at 20 weeks. West, who named the child Gabriel, is now seeking parentage of the baby under Texas law, since she gave birth there.
