Teams who would inherit Man City’s 26 trophies if guilty verdict holds

Manchester City’s unprecedented Premier League case could have major consequences for the history books, with as many as 26 trophies potentially affected if the club is stripped of honours following its financial breaches.

According to The Athletic, City were found guilty of 114 of the 115 charges brought against them by the Premier League, although the eventual sanctions have yet to be determined.

The Athletic reports that City have won 26 trophies between 2011 and 2026, including eight Premier League titles. If those league championships were removed and awarded to the runners-up, Manchester United would retrospectively become champions in 2012, 2018 and 2021, Liverpool in 2014, 2019 and 2022, while Arsenal would inherit the 2023 and 2024 titles.

The potential changes would extend beyond the Premier League. Stoke City could be awarded the 2011 FA Cup, while Watford could inherit the 2019 edition. Sunderland, Aston Villa and Tottenham could also benefit from League Cup victories being reassigned.

However, there is no confirmation that any trophies will actually be stripped or redistributed. The final punishment remains to be decided, meaning the potential rewriting of more than a decade of English football history remains hypothetical.
