Ten-man Inter Milan edge Shakhtar Donetsk to snap Champions League losing streak
Ten-man Inter Milan halted a four-match Champions League losing streak by battling to a 1-0 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Wednesday.
According to a report by BBC Sport, defender Alessandro Bastoni was sent off in the 68th minute after receiving two yellow cards in three minutes, leaving the Italian champions facing a difficult final stretch.
However, substitute Henrikh Mkhitaryan made an immediate impact just moments after coming off the bench. In the 77th minute, Mkhitaryan delivered a lofted pass to find Carlos Augusto, who forced the ball past goalkeeper Dmytro Riznyk for the decisive goal.
Inter will travel to face Feyenoord in their next fixture on November 3, while Shakhtar host Sporting later that evening.
