Thomas Massie calls for surprise impeachment vote against Pete Hegseth
Republican Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky introduced articles of impeachment against Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on the House floor Tuesday, accusing him of abusing his office by executing an unlawful order to escalate hostilities against Iran. Massie also criticized Hegseth’s military actions in Venezuela and Yemen, arguing they proceeded without congressional approval.
Massie said Hegseth remains “a threat to the Constitution” and has acted in a manner “grossly incompatible with the rule of law.” The House now has two legislative days to act on the articles or vote to table them. Massie’s effort follows earlier impeachment articles filed by House Democrats in April, also centered on the unauthorized war in Iran, according to CNN.
