Tijjani Reijnders makes candid admission over Saudi Arabia move

Former Manchester City midfielder Tijjani Reijnders has admitted that money was a major factor behind his decision to leave England for Saudi Arabia this summer. According to GOAL, the Netherlands international joined Al-Qadsiah in a deal worth around £52 million after just one season at City, where he struggled to establish himself in his preferred midfield role.

Reijnders, 28, has now given a remarkably frank explanation for the move, telling NOS that securing his family’s long-term future was central to his decision. He said the contract would provide financial security for future generations of his family, including his grandchildren.

Despite the lucrative deal, Reijnders insists his competitive ambitions remain strong and believes the Saudi Pro League can offer a high level of football. He has made an impressive start at Al-Qadsiah, scoring three goals in his opening five matches.
