Tinubu dismisses health rumours, declares he’s ready to work

President Bola Tinubu has dismissed speculation about his health, declaring himself healthy, sound and ready to resume official duties after his month-long working vacation in Europe, The Sun reports.

Speaking to journalists shortly after arriving at the Presidential Wing of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on Tuesday, Tinubu described the health rumours as politically motivated.

“Ready to kick, ready to work. There’s nothing wrong… Well, rumour will always be emanating from politics, but the facts remain I’m here: healthy, sound and ready to go,” he said, adding simply, “I enjoyed myself,” when asked about his vacation.

House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, among dignitaries who received the president at the airport, said the break would translate into “renewed energy and greater action,” expressing optimism that Tinubu would return with “renewed vigour” to continue serving Nigerians.

Tinubu, who left Abuja on August 30 for London before proceeding to Paris, is expected to remain in Lagos for Nigeria’s 66th Independence anniversary celebrations, including a premiere honouring the late Chief MKO Abiola — closing out a monthlong trip that had drawn mounting scrutiny over his health and prolonged absence.
