Tinubu signs bill extending 2025 budget implementation to December 31
President Bola Tinubu has signed the Appropriation (Amendment) (No. 4) Bill, 2025 into law, extending the 2025 budget implementation deadline from September 30, 2026, to December 31, 2026.
According to a Wednesday statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, as reported by Daily Post, Bayo Onanuga, the presidential assent followed the swift passage of the bill by the Senate and the House of Representatives on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.
The presidency explained that the extension will give Ministries, Departments, and Agencies adequate time to complete ongoing capital projects and ensure appropriated funds are fully utilized without disrupting critical government programs.
Tinubu praised the leadership and members of the National Assembly for their quick consideration and passage of the legislation, describing their action as “a further sign of the cooperation between the Executive and the Legislature in the service of the nation”.
