Tinubu’s daughter launches movement to mobilise market women, traders for 2027 re-election
President Bola Tinubu’s daughter and Iyaloja-General of Nigeria, Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, has launched a political support movement aimed at mobilising market traders and informal sector workers for her father’s 2027 re-election campaign.
According to Punch, the movement, named the Iyaloja General Movement for Renewed Hope Initiatives, was inaugurated on Thursday at Eagle Square in Abuja with a target to secure 10 million votes for the All Progressives Congress.
Speaking at the launch, Tinubu-Ojo defended the administration’s economic direction despite current public hardship.
“President Tinubu has done well. He has policies that will enhance the country and make us do well again. What he is doing right now is like a pregnant woman going into labour,” she said. “Almost all Nigerians are feeling what he is doing right now. The policies are painful, but the result will justify the pain.”
She added: “That is why we don’t want any other person who will drive us back. If we vote for somebody else, he will come up with his own idea… So, we just want President Tinubu to continue so that all the results we are experiencing now will not go down the drain.”
