Trump alleges “sick conspiracy” against AI, slams Anthropic’s CEO
President Donald Trump on Monday rejected calls for AI regulation, insisting that a “STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!) PRESIDENT” is the only guardrail the technology needs, in a Truth Social post.
Trump singled out Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei by name, saying his administration had “stopped AI ‘people’ from doing bad, or potentially bad, ‘things,'” and mocked Amodei as “now pretending to be a ‘perfect little angel.'” He claimed the government already holds “tremendous CRIMINAL and REGULATORY power” over AI firms.
The president alleged a “SICK conspiracy going on against AI and Data Centers,” insisting “the only one that is happy about it is China,” and vowed the U.S. would keep leading the AI race. He closed with a warning: “Conspiracy Theorists, Treasonists, Traitors, and Leakers, BEWARE!”
The post came days after Amodei published a proposal urging AI firms to deliberately slow development to allow more time for safety research, and follows the resignation of an Anthropic safety researcher who warned the industry was “gambling with our lives.”
