Trump announces death of Dolly Parton, orders US flags to fly at half-staff

President Donald Trump has announced the death of country music icon Dolly Parton, describing her passing as a major loss to millions of people.

According to Trump, he ordered American flags across the United States to be flown at half-staff for one week in honour of the legendary singer.

Trump said the flags would be lowered from 6 p.m. Tuesday, while paying tribute to Parton as one of the greatest country singers and saying there had never been anyone like her.

He urged Americans to remember Parton’s legacy, adding that the world loved her and wishing her eternal rest.
