Trump, Anthropic CEO Amodei to hold private White House dinner

President Trump and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei will meet for dinner at the White House on Sunday evening, after the AI industry leader raised concerns about the technology’s risks, The Hill reports.

Two sources familiar with the dinner confirmed the meeting at the president’s residence. Axios was first to report it.

Trump has in recent weeks dismissed concerns from lawmakers and industry leaders about AI risks. Amodei, whose firm developed the Claude chatbot, was among those calling for a slowdown.

“We must slow the pace at which we improve the capabilities of AI models. Progress will still seem fast, and we must make wise use of the time we gain,” Amodei wrote in an essay earlier this month after one of his researchers resigned and said AI poses dire risks to humanity.

A White House official told The Hill: “President Trump has been clear: America will lead the world in Super Intelligence, while protecting American consumers.”

The D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled 2-1 on Friday to allow the Pentagon to continue designating Anthropic’s technology a national security risk.
