Trump contacted Apple directly to push Lake Ontario renaming

President Donald Trump personally contacted Apple in a bid to have the company rename Lake Ontario as “Lake America” on its maps, Newsweek reports. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum disclosed this on Fox Business, saying Apple’s map system had yet to reflect the change despite Trump’s executive order.

Google Maps has already updated to show “Lake America” for U.S. users, while MapQuest said it would retain the original name. The renaming, part of Trump’s trade dispute with Canada, has drawn pushback from Canadian PM Mark Carney, Ontario Premier Doug Ford, and New York Governor Kathy Hochul.
