Trump says he ‘couldn’t care less’ about new Iran deal, urges Iranians to ‘rise up and fight’

President Donald Trump has dramatically shifted his Iran posture — signalling that he no longer needs or wants a diplomatic deal, and is instead content to watch the Islamic Republic’s economy collapse from within, according to The Iran Watcher on X.

In a September 2 post on Truth Social, Trump wrote: “I’m not trying to force Iran to the bargaining table, as ABC Fake News reported. I couldn’t care less if they sign a worthless, to them, agreement. I like our position now much better, with almost total control of the Hormuz Strait, and their economy totally collapsing. They are just playing out the inevitable. When are the Iranian people going to rise up and fight?”

The Iran Watcher, a widely followed geopolitical analysis account, interpreted the post as a clear strategic pivot — away from the June memorandum of understanding and toward a blueprint of economic strangulation without offering Tehran an easy diplomatic escape, while waiting to see whether internal pressure breaks the system from within.

A deal remains theoretically possible, analysts note — but Trump’s messaging suggests he no longer views one as necessary if the alternative is the Islamic Republic’s continued weakening and potential collapse.
