Trump signs fresh executive order to curb birthright citizenship
US President Donald Trump has signed a new executive order seeking to restrict birthright citizenship, targeting people who enter the US under the guise of tourism to give birth.
According to Channels Television, the order also aims to deny citizenship to children of members of “foreign terrorist organisations” and those lobbying for foreign governments, presidential adviser Stephen Miller said.
The move follows a Supreme Court ruling in June that struck down Trump’s earlier attempt, which lower courts found violated the 14th Amendment’s Citizenship Clause.
