Trump threatens to rename Lake Ontario amid escalating row with Canada

President Donald Trump has threatened to rename Lake Ontario “Lake America” amid escalating tensions with Canada following the collapse of trade negotiations between the two countries.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Trump wrote on Truth Social on Tuesday that the U.S. is “giving serious consideration” to the name change, saying he didn’t expect to be “doing much business with Ontario any longer.”

The threat comes after Trump imposed 50% tariffs on key Canadian imports, further straining relations between the neighbouring countries amid an ongoing trade dispute.
