Trump weighs limited strikes on Iran to curb Hormuz threats

US President Donald Trump and senior aides are considering limited strikes against Iran in the Strait of Hormuz aimed at preventing Tehran from rebuilding radar and missile capabilities used to attack ships, Axios reported, citing three US officials.

The plan was developed over the past week by US Central Command and backed by Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, but had not been approved by Trump before the latest exchange of fire with Iran, the report said.

One US official said the aim was to reduce the risk of Iranian attacks on oil tankers, US Navy ships and Air Force aircraft, describing the approach as an effort to “mow the lawn.”
