Trump: White House not attacking free press, but ‘fake news’

US President Donald Trump has defended barring CNN, MS NOW and Politico from the White House, insisting the move targets “fake news” and not the free press.

According to One America News Network (OAN), Trump made the claim in a Truth Social post, describing the restrictions as aimed at coordinated “fake news.”

Trump said he supports the Free Press but accused the affected news organisations of spreading false information.

His comments came after the three outlets announced plans to file a First Amendment lawsuit against Trump and senior administration officials over the restrictions and the revocation of their White House press access.
