Smart glasses are facing growing resistance in London as pubs, theatres and cinemas impose restrictions over concerns about privacy, consent and covert recording.

According to CNN, devices capable of discreetly capturing video, photographs and audio have prompted unease among customers and businesses as their popularity increases.

Pub chain Wetherspoons has prohibited customers from recording with smart glasses, while several London theatres require wearers to remove them and delete unauthorised footage.

UK cinemas have also restricted their use over piracy concerns.

Meta says its glasses include a recording light designed to alert people when footage is being captured.

However, privacy advocates warn that increasingly discreet recording technology could make meaningful consent harder to maintain in public spaces.
