Two people, including a six-year-old boy, have been killed and 11 others injured after a woman drove a pickup truck through a youth soccer match in Wichita, Kansas, United States.

According to ABC News, the incident occurred on Saturday at the Stryker Soccer Complex, prompting multiple emergency calls around 3:25 p.m.

Police identified the driver as a 34-year-old woman from Garden City, Kansas, who remained at the scene and was subsequently taken into custody.

The deceased, a six-year-old boy and a 35-year-old man, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said five children, aged between five and nine, were among those injured. Ten victims sustained traumatic injuries ranging from bruises to severe wounds.

Wichita Police Chief Joe Sullivan said investigators were working to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“We know what happened, but now we’re working very hard to find out why it happened, and we’re not there yet,” Sullivan said.

Wichita Mayor Lily Wu described the incident as heartbreaking.

“Tonight, Wichita grieves together,” she said.

Police have interviewed over 30 witnesses and requested additional video evidence.
