Two Nigerians handed over to US by EFCC over sextortion charges, child exploitation

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has extradited two Nigerians to the United States over sextortion schemes linked to the deaths of two American teenagers. According to Peoples Gazette, Mudashiru Afeez Olawale and Adebola Festus Adekunle were identified by the FBI in separate investigations targeting male minors aged 13 to 17, who died by suicide after being extorted.

Peoples Gazette reports the schemes used child sexual abuse material to demand money via remitters, gift cards and cryptocurrency. The EFCC said the extraditions reflect ongoing collaboration with the FBI against transnational internet-enabled crimes targeting minors.
