U.S. lists 157 Nigerians among “worst of the worst” criminals for deportation after jail terms
Twenty-four more Nigerians have been added to America’s “worst of the worst” criminals list, bringing the total to 157, Peoples Gazette reported on Sunday. The list is published and frequently updated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security amid President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown.
The department said its officials and Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents “Are fulfilling President Trump’s promise and carrying out mass deportations – starting with the worst of the worst – including the illegal aliens you see here.” The Nigerians face charges ranging from mail, wire and immigration fraud to drug trafficking, and will be deported after serving their sentences in the U.S.
The new additions include Emmanuel Omowaiye, who faces a mail fraud charge in Richmond, Texas; Olusegun Shonekan, charged with wire fraud in Newark, New Jersey; and Olusegun Olaseni, accused of amphetamine sale in Greencastle, Indiana. Also listed are Ifeanyi Ibennah, accused of cruelty towards a child in Tampa, Florida, and Charles Ochi, charged with money laundering.
