UK and Europe brace for a rare total solar eclipse
Europe is set for a rare solar eclipse on Wednesday, with the UK experiencing its fullest view since 1999, according to the BBC. Up to 96% of the Sun’s disc will be covered by the Moon across Britain, while northern Spain, Iceland, Greenland and Russia will witness total darkness.
Hundreds of thousands have travelled to Spain for totality, Euronews reported, with maximum totality occurring off Iceland’s coast before the spectacle fades over the Mediterranean. Experts urge viewers to use certified eclipse glasses, warning that direct sun exposure without protection can cause permanent eye damage.
