Ukraine regains full Starlink access after week-long military disruption
Ukraine has regained full access to Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite communications system after more than a week of restrictions that disrupted military drone operations.
According to CBS News, Ukrainian Defence Minister Yevhenii Khmara confirmed Saturday that connections had been restored for drones and other military equipment travelling at high speeds.
The restrictions affected Starshield, SpaceX’s military-grade satellite service, causing communication failures and reportedly leading to lost drones during combat missions.
Khmara said monitoring systems now showed stable connections for equipment travelling faster than 250 miles per hour.
He credited “direct dialogue” and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s diplomatic engagement with Washington for resolving the disruption.
The minister said the restoration was crucial “for our front, for the military, the work of drones, logistics and communications.”
CBS previously reported that Musk was behind the restrictions, although President Donald Trump denied ordering them.
The development comes as Washington renews diplomatic efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war, with negotiations expected next month.
