US Embassy says diplomatic, official visa processing continues in Abuja

The United States Embassy in Abuja says it will continue processing diplomatic and official visas despite the suspension of routine visa services, The Guardian Nigeria reports.

Applicants for diplomatic categories, including A, G and C visas, must first consult their protocol offices and submit a diplomatic note, DS-160 confirmation page, official passport and a passport photograph. The embassy warned applicants against paying the MRV fee unless instructed by a consular officer.

Applications can be dropped off Monday to Thursday between 2 and 3 p.m. The suspension of routine services began August 1, 2026, as part of a wider U.S. consular restructuring across Africa.
