Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan ‘Ogogo’ dead at 66

Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, widely known as Ogogo, has died, Punch Nigeria reported on Sunday. He was 66.

The actor had been battling stage-four cancer, with his daughters, Lima and Kira Taiwo, making a desperate public appeal for medical intervention after hospitals allegedly stopped treating him.

Fellow actor Femi Brainard disclosed the passing via his Facebook page, writing that the news “hit me really hard,” adding that Ogogo had always advised him to “be prayerful and watchful.” The family had not issued an official statement at press time. LEADERSHIP Newspapers

Hassan began his acting journey in the early 1980s, appearing in over 300 films across a four-decade career and gaining wide recognition for his commanding performances in Yoruba-language cinema.
