Vincent Kompany admits he is ‘100% biased’ in Ballon d’Or race
Vincent Kompany has admitted he is “100% biased” as he backed Bayern Munich stars Harry Kane and Michael Olise to win the 2026 Ballon d’Or. Speaking after Bayern’s 5-0 Champions League victory over Bodø/Glimt, Kompany said he would be delighted if either of his players claimed the prestigious individual award. According to Bavarian Football Works, Kane and Olise are among four Bayern players shortlisted for the prize, alongside Luis Díaz and Dayot Upamecano.
Kompany highlighted Bayern’s remarkable attacking output last season, when they scored 182 goals, while acknowledging that the Champions League could heavily influence the voting. “I want my players to be successful, so I’ll do what every other coach did, I’ll be 100% biased,” Kompany said. The Ballon d’Or ceremony is scheduled for October 26, when the winner will be revealed.
