White House denies CNN, MS NOW, Politico access despite court order

CNN, MS NOW and Politico have returned to court after their reporters were denied White House access despite a court order restoring their press credentials.

According to CNN, Federal Judge Timothy Kelly reinstated the outlets’ access after finding that the Trump administration revoked their passes without constitutionally adequate due process.

However, journalists from the three organisations were refused entry on Thursday morning, prompting an emergency request for a hearing.

Kelly’s temporary restraining order remains effective for 14 days while both sides present arguments and evidence.

President Donald Trump had announced the ban after criticising the outlets’ reporting. His administration later cited national security concerns.

Kelly said the government had provided little evidence supporting its national security justification for the restrictions.
