WHO counters Trump’s order on fewer childhood vaccinations, says its recommendations science-based
The World Health Organisation has reaffirmed that its childhood immunisation schedules are science-based, following US President Donald Trump’s executive order reducing recommended vaccinations from 18 to 11, Peoples Gazette reports.
WHO spokesperson Tarik Jašarević said the recommendations draw on over six decades of research by experts and national authorities. Trump, who signed the order Monday, also called for splitting the MMR vaccine into separate shots, backing Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s unproven autism-vaccine link claims.
The American Academy of Paediatrics and other experts have criticised the order, insisting no new evidence justifies the changes.
