Why Arsenal’s £60m Osimhen pursuit could finally succeed…

Arsenal’s pursuit of Victor Osimhen is gathering serious momentum. Sources from Football Insider have claimed that an offer of over £60 million could be enough for Arsenal to convince Galatasaray to sell the Nigerian striker, with the Gunners having long been linked with a move for Osimhen and potentially set to firm up their interest with a concrete offer in the coming weeks, according to The Punch.

Barcelona were offered the chance to sign the forward but have decided to pursue other options — a development that reportedly leaves Arsenal with a clear pathway to the Nigerian, who is valued by Transfermarkt at just over £64 million. Galatasaray have also reportedly rejected a recent €130 million offer from Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal, while Arsenal are said to have reopened talks over a possible move.

Any deal to take Osimhen to the Emirates Stadium would likely be done separately from any potential move involving Gabriel Martinelli heading the other way to Galatasaray.

Osimhen would likely become Arsenal’s highest-paid player, as he currently earns over £300,000 in weekly wages at Galatasaray. The striker himself has not slammed the door on a move. Speaking to reporters after scoring twice in Galatasaray’s Super Lig opener on Friday, he said: “There are always rumours in transfer seasons. I will take care of my business. I am focused on my job, then we will see and think further.” Arsenal scored just 71 Premier League goals last term and have so far failed to land targets such as Morgan Rogers, Bradley Barcola and Julian Alvarez, leaving their forward line looking short ahead of the September 1 deadline.
