Wike: My 2027 support is for Tinubu alone, I never promised PDP wouldn’t present candidates

According to Nigerian Tribune, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has reaffirmed that his support for 2027 is solely for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election, clarifying he never promised the PDP would avoid fielding candidates for governorship, National Assembly and state assembly seats.

The Tribune reports Wike, through his aide Lere Olayinka, insisted the Rainbow Coalition has no ties to the APC, calling it a platform mobilizing cross-party support for Tinubu. He urged politicians to resolve local issues themselves rather than exploit the presidential race, citing 2023 results in Imo, Abia, Enugu and Ebonyi where voters split tickets between APC and other parties, per the report.
