Wike’s son denies $2.1m land deal, says signature was forged
Jordan Ezenwo Nyesom-Wike, son of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, has denied receiving $2.1m from a businessman for an Abuja land deal, telling an FCT High Court his signature on a document linking him to the transaction was forged, Punch reports.
Jordan made the claims Wednesday while being cross-examined in a suit filed by Safwan Garba GY and GY Global Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited, who allege they paid him $2.1m for a proposed property development on land in Katampe and Guzape, with proceeds to be split 60-40.
“I did not receive any money from anybody. I did not sign any document for land deal, I only found out that my signature was on the land document just like anyone else in this court yesterday,” Jordan said, adding he never knew a man named Onor Sandy, whom claimants say accompanied him when the cash was allegedly handed over in Gwarimpa.
The claimants further allege Jordan became unreachable after the payment and that the land turned out to belong to another company already preparing to develop it. Jordan confirmed a voice-note transcript referenced money but insisted he never physically met Garba on the disputed date, and admitted he had not reported the alleged forgery to police.
Justice Silvanus Oriji adjourned the matter to December for continuation of trial, leaving the case hinging on whether the disputed signature and documents are genuine.
