Major La Liga deals
Jonathan David left Juventus for Atlético Madrid on a loan with an obligation to buy, while Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott joined Valencia on loan. Barcelona completed the bargain-looking £8.6m Gabriel Jesus transfer from Arsenal.
Other notable Spanish deals were Youssouf Fofana from AC Milan to Sevilla on loan; José María Giménez from Atlético Madrid to Deportivo La Coruña on loan; Marc Casadó from Barcelona to Deportivo on loan; Thomas Lemar from Atlético to Elche on loan; Romain Del Castillo from Brest to Osasuna for about £860,000; Sebastián Cáceres from Club América to Celta Vigo for £3.9m; and Jens Cajuste from Napoli to Málaga on loan.
Major Serie A deals
Juventus added Nick Woltemade from Newcastle and Pape Matar Sarr from Tottenham, with Sarr’s loan containing an obligation to buy. Como signed Robert Sánchez on loan from Chelsea and Moise Kean from Juventus on a loan with an obligation.
Fiorentina brought in Beto from Everton for £15.4m, Wilfried Gnonto from Leeds on loan and Pedro Gonçalves from Sporting CP on loan. Torino added Nathan Patterson from Everton and Rafik Belghali from Verona, while Rolando Mandragora returned from Fiorentina for £4.3m.
Major Bundesliga deals
Ethan Nwaneri made one of Deadline Day’s most intriguing moves, leaving Arsenal for Borussia Dortmund on loan. Marc Guiu departed Chelsea for RB Leipzig for around £14m, while Fabio Vieira left Arsenal for Hamburg for roughly £8m.
Moussa Diaby returned to Bayer Leverkusen from Al-Ittihad, Hwang Hee-chan joined Schalke from Wolves on loan, Lilian Brassier moved from Rennes to Eintracht Frankfurt for £8.5m, and Hamburg also added David Møller Wolfe on loan and Zakaria El Ouahdi.
Major Ligue 1 deals
Strasbourg secured Deivid Washington from Chelsea for £6.9m and took Dário Essugo on loan. Jean-Clair Todibo moved from West Ham to Lens on loan, Cameron Archer joined Auxerre from Southampton on loan, Conrad Harder left RB Leipzig for Strasbourg on loan, and Maurits Kjærgaard moved from Salzburg to Lille.
The scale of spending was extraordinary. Reuters reported that Premier League clubs alone reached a record £3.198 billion in gross summer spending, with Manchester City’s £65m Ndiaye deal helping push the total beyond last summer’s record. Chelsea finished as the Premier League’s biggest summer spenders at about £347m, while Tottenham spent around £303m.
Note: deal trackers were still being updated after the 11pm UK deadline because clubs that submitted paperwork in time could receive additional time to finalise registrations, so very late confirmations can still alter the definitive list.
