Yes, Tinubu’s supporters are truly MAD — Presidency replies Amaechi

Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Tinubu, has declared that the president’s supporters are “MAD” about his re-election bid in 2027.

According to Daily Post, Onanuga made the remark in an X post responding to former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi’s criticism of Tinubu’s economic policies.

Amaechi, the African Democratic Congress vice-presidential candidate, had told supporters at a town hall meeting in Benin City, Edo State, that only “mad people” and “thieves” would vote for Tinubu.

He also described the removal of petrol subsidy as “reckless”.

Responding, Onanuga wrote: “Rotimi Amaechi: Yes, we, the followers and supporters of President Tinubu, are truly MAD. Read why we are.

“Motivated, driven by purpose and passion. Assured, confident in our vision and victory.

“Determined, focused, resolute, and unstoppable for President Tinubu’s re-election.”

The presidential aide used the acronym to express supporters’ commitment to Tinubu’s candidacy.

The exchange comes amid political disagreements over Nigeria’s economic policies ahead of the 2027 elections.
