‘Your plot to take over Eastern Corridor will fail:’ Pipeline contract tears Asari Dokubo, Niger Delta activist apart
Niger Delta activist Fejiro Oliver has accused former militant leader Asari Dokubo of plotting to take control of the Eastern Corridor pipeline surveillance contract, saying the move would fail.
According to Daily Post, Oliver said every Niger Delta community should be allowed to secure pipelines passing through its territory.
“Asari Dokubo is someone I respect and still respect as an elder in the struggle for resource control even though through militancy – a move that is now outdated and taken over by the pen and intellectual reasoning which people like myself and others now champion,” he said.
Oliver also rejected Dokubo’s claim that the Olu of Warri and others receive N2.7 trillion annually from pipeline surveillance contracts.
“To now come from nowhere and brandish a spurious amount of N2.7 trillion is distasteful and this is not a lie I will sit down and allow to publicly fly,” he said.
He argued that communities yet to receive direct surveillance contracts should be prioritised instead.
