15 corps members kidnapped in Kogi after leaving NYSC orientation camp in Bayelsa
Fifteen National Youth Service Corps members have been kidnapped along the Ofu/Itobe-Onicha-Igo axis in Kogi State while travelling from the NYSC Orientation Camp in Bayelsa State to Abuja, with gunmen shooting at victims before seizing them from a Peace Mass Transit bus.
As reported by FIJ, the abduction occurred on Wednesday evening, the same day the 2026 Batch B Stream II corps members concluded their orientation camp exercises. A police officer, Adeji Joshua of the Kogi State Command, confirmed the incident, saying the badly injured bus driver described abductors who spoke Fulfulde, Hausa and English.
A relative of one victim, Ayodele David, said: “Our family is deeply worried about his safety, along with that of the other young Nigerians who have been taken.”
NYSC’s Director of Information and Peace Mass Transit were both unreachable for comment. Investigation is ongoing.
