Uganda’s King Oyo Nyimba, once world’s youngest ruling monarch, dies at 34
King Oyo Nyimba, who became the world’s youngest reigning monarch in 1995, has died at 34, according to a Reuters report. Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, the King of Tooro in western Uganda, died at around 10:00pm local time on Thursday, the kingdom’s prime minister, Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire Akiiki, announced without disclosing a cause.
Crowned at just three years old in 1995 following his father’s death, the king was unmarried but left an heir, ensuring the crown’s continuity. His death sparked widespread grief across Ugandan social media, with opposition leader Bobi Wine among those paying tribute.
