2027: Four Osun APC executives oppose parallel presidential campaign council, demand review
Four executive members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun have rejected a parallel presidential campaign council unveiled by the state leadership on Monday, TheCable reports.
In a joint statement on Tuesday, publicity secretary Wole Adunola, welfare officer Adesola Ayangbile, assistant organising secretary Rasheed Adeniji and ex-officio member Abiola Ololade demanded an urgent review of the council.
The 168-member council, announced by state chairman Tajudeen Lawal, named Bola Oyebamiji, the party’s candidate in the August 15 governorship election, as director-general.
The executives said this contradicted an earlier presidential directive reportedly naming Governor Ademola Adeleke as the council’s director-general in the state.
They also faulted the exclusion of several state working committee members, raising concerns about due process.
“Our position is clear: we need a campaign council that respects party structures, recognises legitimate leadership, accommodates critical stakeholders and unites all members towards electoral victory,” they stated.
They urged party leaders to consult relevant stakeholders, including APC National Secretary Ajibola Basiru.
