2027: Lagos, Kano, Kaduna record highest number of registered voters
Lagos, Kano and Kaduna have emerged as the states with the highest numbers of registered voters ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general election.
According to Vanguard, Independent National Electoral Commission Chairman Joash Amupitan disclosed on Tuesday in Abuja that Nigeria’s voter register has reached 110 million after three phases of registration.
“The national register of voters now stands at 110 million, making Nigeria the largest democracy in Africa,” Amupitan said.
Lagos leads the 36 states and Federal Capital Territory with 7,488,633 registered voters, followed by Kano with 6,570,276 and Kaduna with 4,662,640.
Katsina ranks fourth with 3,876,051 voters, while Rivers follows with 3,736,434.
Oyo has 3,588,111 registered voters and Delta 3,525,988, while Benue records 3,057,225.
Ogun has 3,037,981 registered voters, with Bauchi completing the top 10 at 3,012,547 ahead of the elections.
