Alleged fake professorship: ICPC probes Kila as university removes his profile from website

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has constituted a team to investigate Anthony Kila over allegations that he falsely presented himself as a professor.

According to PREMIUM TIMES, an ICPC source said the commission was concerned by the allegations, particularly because Kila is the Pro-Chancellor of Michael and Cecilia Ibru University, Delta State.

“An investigation team has been put together to look into the matter,” the source said.

The source said the probe would establish whether Kila falsely claimed the title and examine whether the university used his alleged professorial status in official documents or representations, or gained any advantage from it.

ICPC spokesperson John Odey said he was unaware of the investigation but promised to check with the relevant desk.

Meanwhile, MCIU has removed Kila’s name, profile and photographs from its website. Kila has claimed that the European Centre for Advanced and Professional Studies awarded him a professorship in 2016.

However, PREMIUM TIMES said it found no evidence that the institution exists or that Kila was awarded the title.
