2027: We will rig those who rig elections — Peter Obi

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has warned that his supporters will resist attempts to manipulate the 2027 general elections.

According to TheCable, Obi made the declaration on Wednesday during a town hall meeting in Nasarawa State, where he addressed electoral malpractice.

“Let me assure you, number one, this coming election, we will rig those who rig it,” he said.

Obi promised to strengthen electoral institutions and prosecute individuals involved in election rigging if elected president.

“Any high-ranking official, anybody who is involved with the election, under my watch, that rigs the election, will go to jail.”

He also advocated stricter educational qualifications for political candidates, warning that certificate forgery should attract imprisonment.

The former Anambra governor maintained that his administration would promote accountability and enforce the rule of law.

He insisted that political officeholders and ordinary citizens must obey electoral laws without exception.
