Woman killed, another injured in Times Square stabbing before police shoot suspect dead
A knife-wielding woman stabbed two people in New York’s Times Square on Monday, killing one, before police fatally shot her after she advanced toward officers.
The New York Times reported that the violence unfolded shortly before 4:30 p.m. near Seventh Avenue and West 43rd Street, close to an NYPD substation.
Police identified the suspect as 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros of Queens. Authorities said she stabbed a 68-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman in random, unprovoked attacks.
The woman died at Bellevue Hospital, while the man remained stable. Police said officers used Tasers before opening fire as Cisneros approached them with knives.
