African athletes go missing after Glasgow Commonwealth Games
Four Ugandan boxers and a Pakistani boxer went missing after the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, Police Scotland confirmed. The force said it had received reports of several athletes unaccounted for and was liaising with the Home Office as inquiries continued. According to NBS Sport, those missing include Uganda’s Nuhu Batte, Angel Katushabe, Ibrahim Kemis, and Emily Nakalema, alongside Pakistan’s Qudratullah. Athletes were due to leave Scotland two days after the Games. A similar pattern occurred in 2014, when Ugandan rugby player Philip Pariyo and Cameroonian weightlifter Cyrille Tchatchet II vanished after competing, with Tchatchet later granted refugee status.
