EFCC nabs fake lawyer who outsourced N7.5m case to real attorney for N1.5m
A Lagos State High Court has convicted John Nwawuto Anoruo, 55, for impersonating a lawyer and possessing a forged Nigerian Bar Association seal, according to Tribune Online. Justice A.M. Lawal delivered the verdict on August 4, 2026, after Anoruo pleaded guilty to two counts. The EFCC said Anoruo, who ran a consultancy in Ikorodu, earned N7.5 million from a legal brief but paid a qualified lawyer only N1.5 million to actually handle it. He admitted never attending Nigerian Law School. Justice Lawal fined him N270,000 and ordered his forged seal and legal attire forfeited to the government.
