FIFA management gives Infantino ‘full support’ after crisis meeting
FIFA President Gianni Infantino will remain in office after receiving the “full support” of the governing body’s management board following crisis talks in Morocco.
According to Euronews, Infantino met senior FIFA executives in Rabat amid fallout from the abandoned FIFA Forward Enterprise investment proposal. FIFA acknowledged “mistakes” in handling the plan and apologised to member associations.
The proposal could have raised up to $4.2 billion but triggered fierce opposition. Despite growing calls for Infantino’s resignation and several associations withdrawing re-election support, FIFA’s leadership backed him and confirmed the investment plan remains shelved.
