‘Fake’ agency: ICPC clears Gbajabiamila of wrongdoing
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has cleared Presidential Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila of any wrongdoing in the PFIPC scandal, confirming that Adeniyi Adeyemi’s appointment letter was entirely forged.
Vanguard reports that ICPC Chairman Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu presented the interim report on Wednesday, exactly 30 days after President Tinubu ordered the investigation. He confirmed the PFIPC was never created by law, executive order or any valid government instrument, and that Adeyemi fraudulently appropriated the identity and offices of the legitimate Presidential Economic Advisory Council.
The Commission identified inter-agency oversight weaknesses exploited through “negligence and connivance” but found State House and Central Bank internal processes “above board.”
